Personal Trainer Overview
I specialize in functional training, which means movements that translate into everyday life. I choose exercises based on your goals and activities that will benefit you, whether you are a golfer, gardener, runner, or a mom. I also have a special interest in posture which influences which exercises I choose for you.
I believe every person is unique and needs something different from his or her training program. I also believe it is very important to stay current with research done in the are of exercise science. I employ techniques such as multi-joint movements, multi-planar movements, dynamic stretching, and also yoga. I keep it interesting for the client and believe balance and stability training play an important role in fall prevention. I also have extensive experience in post rehabilitation.
I have a BS in exercise physiology from UC Davis. I have attended several Ashtanga yoga teacher workshops. I have worked at an obesity clinic, in corporate fitness, and in the health club setting. I recently completed the wellcoach wellness coaching trainee program. I stay current on trends in the industry primarily through reading, although I do attend workshops when I can.
I am a triathlete, mountain biker, 1/2 marathoner, Ashtanga yoga practitioner, and outdoor enthusiast. I am passionate about fitness and it's role in disease prevention.
